Gotta Google Yourself

One of my favorite part-time jobs was being a tour guide at Lakefront Brewery while I was a teacher in Wisconsin. Every tour was a challenge because of who was in the crowd, sometimes there were beer enthusiasts, but not always. My goal was to get everyone to laugh and have a good time while I told them a little bit about how to make beer and what our company was all about. Every tour at Lakefront is a little different but since we were known as the best tour in Milwaukee every tour had to be good. Here is what one columnist, Mark Shuman from the Daily Herald, wrote about me:

While dispersing technical information about hops, yeast and grain, Lakefront tour guide Sarabeth Gidley was also a Santa Claus of beer samples. A middle-school teacher by day, her crowd-control skills no doubt came in handy.

"Anyone already been on the Miller's tour?" Gidley asked. A sheepish few offered hands. "They have a video and they have a lot of stats, but YOU GET ME!" she said. Promising to dance if we sang, Gidley started a tape and pointed to a cue card with a stick.

"One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight! Schlmeel, schlimazel, hasenpfeffer incorporated!"

Scatterbug confession

YaHeyDER!

I am sorry for moving things but I needed to. But life is all about adjustments, whether it be technology or a healthy lifestyle. For example, I was traveling last week in Phoenix and I was so proud of myself for getting up every morning to work out! BUT we ate out every night and every lunch and instead of being a good girl and ordering salad - I ate big meals. Ya know what - THEY WERE ALL WORTH IT! I felt a little guilt and then I checked myself - that is why I work out, so I can enjoy these times of gluttony.

Now back to home cooked small meals all day long, I really missed it and so did my body.

Who is SB...

Well, I do not have alot of credentials to lean on to be able to break down each beverage to individual tastes. I can not tell you the process behind each type of beer or liquor. BUT I can tell you where ever I go I seek new beers to taste and if there is a local liquor I will taste that also (unless I have already had beer). I am sure you are thinking, what about wine or champagne? Well, I have found that I have an allergic reaction to many wines and champagnes so I keep trying them every once in awhile - but I do not seek them out.

Enjoy and share your thoughts... Thanks for reading.
